Description
Inclusive RE has great potential for helping children and young people from different religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds to understand and value their similarities and differences. Contrary to the perception that religion is divisive when people of different beliefs are together, a strong case is made here for sharing Religious Education rather than doing it separately. Even – or perhaps especially – in divided Northern Ireland, religion can be explored openly and inclusively as a means towards greater mutual understanding and community cohesion. This book explores some of the issues and concerns around RE and challenges teachers towards a positive way forward that could be adopted in all kinds of schools.
