RE Ideas: Literacy uses drama, debate, inference, story, non-fiction texts and continuing provision activities to explore how RE can support literacy across the primary school.
For our youngest children we explore how religion shows itself in the home, culminating in opportunities for redesigning the classroom home corner. For older pupils the book provides a double-page magazine-style article as a literacy focus for a study of bar and bat mitzvah. Mother Teresa is studied using a poetic stimuli with opportunities to practise drama and inference skills. For our oldest pupils we share strategies for improving debate and discussion skills in RE.
Using material from Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism and Judaism, the book provides engaging learning strategies and stimulating, attractive teaching resources and materials to support the subject leader.
