Description

RE Ideas: Sacred Words explores significant words, phrases, stories, prayers and texts from Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism. The book contains excellent learning strategies, high-quality images and resources to support learning in RE lessons across the primary school. For our youngest children, we explore simple sacred words and phrases through sound, actions, music and art. In Sikhism, we explore how the Guru Granth Sahib is treated as a living Guru, a story about God and the words of the Mool Mantar which show key Sikh beliefs. For older pupils, we explore treatment of the name of God, the Shema and sacred words from the Torah in Judaism. In our centre pages, we have another of our extremely popular double-page pictures focusing on different types of writing in the Bible. Finally, in our focus on Islam for older pupils, we use two excellent pieces of calligraphy by Razwan Ul-Haq to explore the name of Allah and the story of the revelation of the Qur’an. This book has excellent activities and is particularly rich in artwork and photographs to support RE in your school.
